This is where the Anzacs landed 100 years ago |
-The Anzacs landed in the wrong location and instead flat terrain to faced a massive mountain.
-The British general commanding the Anzacs was horrible and many soldiers died because of his commands
- The Anzac were fighting for the Dardanelles, so the Allied powers could get a ice-free route into Russia.
-They were also fighting to put Turkey out of the war.

Many people wear poppies to commemorate the Anzacs because they grew on the battle fields after the war |
- Many soldiers died from diseases, infection or shrapnel.
Unfortunately I did not attend any services this year but I am very grateful for what they did and I enjoyed learning about them.
Comment what was your favourite fact you learnt about the Anzacs that you didn't already know before.
A very well written blog post! Good one Andrew! The fact I found out about, which really interested me, was how the ANZAC soldiers landed in the wrong place. Yeah, I didn't know about that one....
ReplyDeleteNice post Andrew!
ReplyDeleteAn ANZAC fact that I learnt this year was that the Gallipoli campaign was overseen and run by overall commander Sir Ian Hamilton.
